Short story
How a Small Thirst Enriched My Life.
She could not explain what she wants. Though she is trying hard to explain.
I asked her again to please tell me something. Speak something so I can help you out.
There was a tremendous rush in the store everybody was busy in buying I waited long outside the store.
I was thirsty, so I took out my water bottle and gulped the water. Still, I needed more water.
My turn came… I entered the shop. It was very cool inside. I picked up all the items which I listed down.
With the billing part done… I kept all the items in my car. I was busy placing the items in my car.
… I felt that someone is trying to hold me.
I turned around and saw… there was a cute little girl in light blue frock pulling me. She was staring at me with her beady eyes, her eyes were trying to speak something. Her smile was very adorable, very charming. A clip with a big red rose on its top was tying her side hairs making her even more captivating. I bet everyone there would have noticed her.
I wanted to buzz her off, but I couldn’t. Her eyes were so deep and curious to ask something. I felt little pain in her eyes, which she was hiding with her beautiful infant and an innocent smile. This was the reason I couldn't stop myself to look at her.
She shook me again.
I asked who you are? What do you want from me? Who are you with?
She didn’t speak a word. I asked her again.
What can I do for you?
She was still quiet, but this time she anyhow peeped into my car.
She pointed her finger towards an empty water bottle.
I picked that bottle and gave it to her. She refused to take it. It surprised me and irritated me.
She could not explain what she wants?
I asked her again, please! tell me something. Speak something… so that I can help you out.
This time she did some actions and tried to explain what she wants.
Oh! Might be she couldn’t speak… I thought.
This time I soften my voice and filled it with some emotions.
She was pulling me to the shop, and I was after her.
I was thinking, who can she be? Did she come here alone? Where are her parents?
She stopped at a counter. Now it was my turn. I asked her you need water?
She smiled again, and I lost my heart to her cute smile once again.
She nodded to my question.
I purchased two bottles.
Her eyes were asking me. Why 2 bottles?
I pacified her… need not worry one for you and one for me
I offered one bottle to her and emptied my bottle in one go.
She looked at me with her open mouth…
She too quenched her thirst with some water.,
She gripped the bottle tight.
She wanted to leave, but hesitated. Might be she wanted to take the bottle with her but was hesitating.
I again asked… do you need something else? This time I was trying to explain through actions… she chuckled…
She took my permission to take the water bottle with her.
Oh sure… I told her, please take this bottle with you.
Smile started playing on her face.
I asked her where you have to go? Should I drop …
Before I could complete my words, she had already left.
I saw she was waving at me with her one hand and with another, she was clutching the bottles if it was a treasure.
I don’t know how long the bottle will help her as there was not much water left in it. But now that bottle was “all” to her.
She disappeared from my sight…. but left her smile with me. Now I too have a treasure with me…. treasure of her priceless smile. With this thought in mind, I started my car…
